After Wednesday's endorsement by the
Federal Executive Council, President Muhammadu Buhari is setting out on Friday
again for a visit to Egypt. The President will be attending the Business for
Africa, Egypt and the world forum.
Special Adviser to the President on
Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement said the forum is being
organised by the Egyptian government in collaboration with the African Union
Commission and will take place on Saturday.
The statement says:
"the forum's objective is to
accelerate private sector engagement and investment within Africa and promote
the development of African ties and partnerships". President Buhari,
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt and the Presidents of Togo, Sudan,
Kenya, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia are among
confirmed speakers at the forum.
"Other confirmed speakers
include the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and
the President/CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote.
"President Buhari will be
accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey
Onyeama and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Okechukwu
Enelama. He will return to Abuja at the conclusion of the forum."
President Buhari has been criticised
for his numerous foreign trip since assuming office May last year.
Opposition groups have argued that the countries failing economy is not
the best for too much of trips that come with costs in foreign currencies. They
also say that the President needs to spend more time at home to attend to the
issues that is affecting development in the country.
